Jersey Mike’s Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Championship bracket announced

FRISCO, Texas – The bracket for the 2023 Jersey Mike’s Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Championship presented by LouisianaTravel.com has been released.

The tournament will be held at McNeese State University’s Legacy Center on March 5-8. The top two seeds receive byes to the semifinal, while the third and fourth seed receive first round byes. All games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, with the championship game on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on ESPN2.

A&M-Corpus Christi claimed the regular season championship and top seed with a 14-4 conference record. Northwestern State takes the second seed with its 13-5 record.

Southeastern is the third seed with a 12-6 record and Nicholls earned the fourth seed with an 11-7 mark. A&M-Commerce is the fifth seed with a 9-9 conference record.

New Orleans and HCU tied with a 7-11 conference mark and split their regular season series. The Huskies are the sixth seed with a 1-1 record against A&M-Corpus Christi, while UNO went 0-2 against the Islanders.

Host school McNeese and UIW tied with a 6-12 conference record, with McNeese taking the eighth and final seed via tiebreaker. The teams split their regular season games and both went 0-2 against A&M-Corpus Christi. McNeese went 1-1 against Northwestern State, while UIW was winless in that matchup, giving the Cowboys the final spot.

FIRST ROUND – Sunday, March 5
5 p.m. – No. 5 A&M-Commerce vs. No. 8 McNeese – ESPN+
7:30 p.m. – No. 6 HCU vs. No. 7 New Orleans- ESPN+

QUARTERFINALS – Monday, March 6
5 p.m. – Game 1 winner vs. No. 4 Nicholls – ESPN+
7:30 p.m. – Game 2 winner vs. No. 3 Southeastern – ESPN+

SEMIFINALS – Tuesday, March 7
5:30 p.m. – Game 3 winner vs. No. 1 A&M-Corpus Christi – ESPNU
8 p.m. – Game 4 winner vs. No. 2 Northwestern State – ESPN+

CHAMPIONSHIP – Wednesday, March 8
4 p.m. – Semifinal Winners – ESPN2
