Jerry Hernandez to speak Wednesday at Life Resources Bottom Line Luncheon
A graduate of De La Salle, the University of Louisiana (Lafayette) and the University of New Orleans, Jerry Hernandez has fostered an outstanding career in education and basketball, making a difference in the lives of many young people.
Among his many exploits, Hernandez served as the head coach at Loyola University, reviving a men’s basketball program which had been dormant for 19 years.
Hernandez has also coached at St. Martin’s Episcopal, Hahnville, Northshore and Jesuit. He currently helps with the Jesuit basketball program.
Overall, Hernandez has spent 45 years coaching basketball at the prep and college levels.
He has also authored three books, including “600+ Little Things that Make a Difference for Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Coaches” and “The Athletic Trinity; Parents, Players and Coaches Can They Co-Exist,” and “Make It Easy; a Guide for Student-Athletes.”
