NEW ORLEANS – Freshman JerKaila Jordan of the Tulane women’s basketball team earned her fifth American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week award of the season, the league announced today.

Jordan is now tied with Cincinnati’s IImar’I Thomas (2017-18), Rutgers’ Tyler Scaife (2013-14) and Temple’s Feyonda Fitzgerald (2013-14) for the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player. Her previous awards came on Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Jan. 4 and Jan. 18. She was also named AAC Player of the Week on Dec. 14.

Jordan opened the week with 19 points, four assists and three rebounds against Houston.

She then tied her career-high and led the Green Wave with 22 points on 10-14 shooting, without playing in the fourth quarter due to rest, in the first win over Temple. The New Orleans native also added four rebounds, four assists and five steals against the Owls on Saturday.

She followed that performance with 18 points, 15 of which came in the second half, four assists, three rebounds and one block. Jordan helped the Wave go 2-1 on the week and sweep Temple over the weekend.

Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 15.7 points per game, 46 total assists and 28 total steals. She ranks third in The American in points per game and second in field goal percentage (.486).

Up next, the Green Wave will hit the road to take on Wichita State. The game is part of a double-header with the Tulane and Wichita State men’s teams. The women will tip-off at 3 p.m. followed by the men at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
