Jay Carlin

Pope John Paul II High School is extremely excited to announce Hall of Fame Coach Jay Carlin has been hired to lead the boys basketball program for the 2023-2024 school year. Coach Carlin is coming out of retirement to bring his passion and love for both basketball and education to PJP.

As a school, having Coach Carlin in our building during the day will add continued opportunities for our students to grow in their Catholic faith and have another great role model/mentor as well.

Our previous Head Coach, Brian Babin, is stepping away to focus his efforts on our baseball program and Asst. Coach Lance Chetta has decided to spend more time with his family. Both coaches will be missed and PJP is grateful for their hard work on turning the program around. The last two seasons have been the most successful since 1997, and that is thanks to the efforts and teamwork of Coach Babin & Coach Chetta. PJP’s assistant coach, Zach Pisciotta, who is an alumni of PJP, will be returning as a fourth year assistant coach and will move into the lead assistant role with Coach Carlin. We are very excited about the collaboration and direction of the program under their leadership.

Coach Carlin’s impressive resume and love for the high school setting has made this a special opportunity for the future of our school. We are looking forward to Coach Carlin and Coach Pisciotta continuing a winning mentality for our boys both on and off the court.
