Javonte Smart, Emmitt Williams latest LSU players to declare for NBA Draft
Will the last Tiger to leave the gym please turn out the lights?
A pair of LSU freshmen, guard Javonte Smart and forward Emmitt Williams, announced Thursday via their Instagram accounts that they will enter the 2019 NBA Draft:
Smart, the Scotlandville Magnet product whose name was connected to the Yahoo Sports report that led to LSU head coach Will Wade’s suspension, averaged 11.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game this season.
Williams, a coveted recruit of Florida, scored 7.0 points and tallied 5.4 rebounds per game off the bench.
The pair join freshman Naz Reid, sophomore Tremont Waters and junior Skylar Mays who have already declared for the NBA Draft. Reid and Waters have signed with agents, meaning neither can return to the Tigers. It is not clear if Smart or Williams have inked with an agent yet.
If all five players do not return to the program, LSU will enter 2019-20 without their top six scorers from this past season.
