Javonte Smart announces his return to LSU for sophomore season

LSU sophomore guard Javonte Smart will stay with the Tigers. The former Louisiana prep player of the year announced on Saturday night that he was returning for another season.

Smart was one of six players who declared for the 2019 NBA Draft along with Naz Reid, Tremont Waters, Skylar Mays, Marlon Taylor and Emmitt Williams.

Smart is the first player to announce a return to the program ahead of the May 29 deadline.

The Scotlandville Magnet product averaged 11.1 points per game as a freshman for the Tigers. He lso totaled 81 assists and 44 steals.
