John Curtis free safety Javon Stoudmire-Davis has been named as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week in the Greater New Orleans area for week three by CrescentCitySports.com, Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report on NASH ICON 106.1 FM, the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club and for Friday Night Football on WNOL/WGNO.

A senior, Stoudmire-Davis returned two interceptions for 20 yards, broke up one pass and returned two punts for touchdowns, consisting of 80 and 72 yards, respectively in a 39-20 win over Holy Cross. Stoudmire-Davis, who played wide receiver last season, is coached by J.T. Curtis.

“He has had an outstanding year to this point,” Curtis said. “It’s really the first time he’s been on the defensive side of the ball exclusively. He is playing defense about 95 percent of the time. He has a natural feel for it. We graduated all four guys in the secondary from last year. We needed maturity and he has provided that by making plays and has been good in run support.”

Stoudmire-Davis will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Dec. 14 at Rock’n’Bowl.
