Jared Cook, Andrus Peat named to Pro Bowl, increasing Saints franchise-record total to 9 players

New Orleans Saints tight end Jared Cook and guard Andrus Peat have been named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad, it was announced by the Saints and the National Football League today. It is Cook’s second Pro Bowl and second consecutive first as a Saint and Peat’s second consecutive and second overall, with the Saints now having a franchise-record nine players named to the league’s all-star game, surpassing the eight named from the 2018 squad. The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 26 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.

Cook, 6-5, 254, was signed by New Orleans in the 2019 offseason as an unrestricted free agent. In 2019, he played in 14 games and posted 43 receptions for 705 yards (16.4 avg.) with nine touchdowns. Cook led NFL tight ends in yards per catch and was ranked second at the position in scoring grabs, while tying for the team lead. In Sunday’s NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Minnesota, he added five grabs for 54 yards. Originally a third round draft pick (89th overall) of the Tennessee Titans in 2009, Cook has played in 163 games and has posted career statistics of 468 receptions for 6,169 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Peat, 6-7, 316, is a five-year NFL veteran who was selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Saints out of Stanford. In his five seasons, he has opened 65 regular season games and four postseason contests at both left guard and left tackle and has played every offensive line position except for center. In 2019, Peat opened 10 regular season contests and the postseason game at left guard.

Cook replaces Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, while Peat will replace Washington Redskins guard Brandon Scherff, both of whom are unable to participate due to injury.
