NEW ORLEANS – In his season debut Jalen Cook scored 23 points off the bench to lead Tulane to a 99-79 victory over Charleston Southern on Wednesday night inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

Tylan Pope had a career night, tying his career high 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Kevin Cross grabbed his first double-double of the season scoring 17 and grabbing 10 boards.

Collin Holloway got his first start of the season and totaled 18 points with seven rebounds and two steals. Jaylen Forbes had 16 on the night, while Sion James had an all-around solid game with 11 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Tulane shot their highest field goal percentage of the season thus far at 54.2 percent and went perfect from the charity stripe hitting 11 of 11.

After Tulane went up up 7-0, Charleston Southern battled back to knot things up at 13 a piece. Cook got the Wave’s lead back off a quick jumper and would stay hot, scoring 20 points in the first half. Holloway would score 11 in the first half, grabbing the last two points before heading into the locker room, 50-44.

Tulane would lead for the entirety of the second half as Forbes and Cross both found a rhythm and combined for 24 points and nine rebounds.

Pope proved to be the real difference maker for the Wave, getting back-to-back three-point plays, setting the tone for Tulane on the way to a 99-79 victory.

Jaylen Forbes made his 55th straight start, the most on the team.
Tulane has made at least one 3-point field goal in 258 consecutive games. The last time the Green Wave failed to do so came on Jan.16, 2014 at home against Louisiana Tech when they went 0-for-14 from outside.
Jalen Cook is the second player this season to score 20 points off the bench for Tulane. Collin Holloway was the first versus UMBC (25).
Forbes is 19 points away from 1000 career points.
This is the first time this season six players have scored in double-digits.
