NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Athletics will begin an immediate search for the program’s next women’s volleyball head coach. The search begins after the University of Iowa announced today that it had hired Jim Barnes as its next women’s volleyball head coach.

“I would like to congratulate Jim Barnes and his family on their new opportunity at the University of Iowa,” Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “Over the past six years, Coach Barnes and his staff have elevated our program and laid the groundwork for sustained future success. We look forward to commencing the search for our next volleyball head coach.”

During his six seasons at Tulane, Barnes led the program to back-to-back National Invitational Volleyball Championship appearances including a finals appearance in 2018, as the Green Wave posted 29 wins during the 2018 campaign.

In his 24 years as a head coach, Barnes holds a career record of 455-345 (.569), and nine 20-plus win seasons.
