Persistent rain showers prevent field conditions from improving for Saturday’s doubleheader

MONROE – Continued inclement weather on Saturday morning in the Monroe area forced the cancellation of the scheduled doubleheader between No. 8 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball and ULM.

Rain showers, which began in the overnight hours, persisted early Saturday morning leading to unplayable conditions at the ULM Softball Complex.

Saturday’s cancellation brings to a close the weekend series between the in-state Sun Belt Conference foes and the regular season schedule.

No. 8 Louisiana (47-4) completed the regular season with an unblemished Sun Belt mark at 25-0. The 2019 Ragin’ Cajuns become only the second team in program and conference history to finish league play undefeated, joining the 2004 group (went 18-0).

Gerry Glasco’s squad now turns its attention to the start of postseason play which begins on Thursday, May 9 at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. The official tournament bracket will be announced later on Saturday.
