Former UL Lafayette and Vandebilt Catholic running back Elijah McGuire suffered a fractured foot in training camp with the New York Jets, report NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The injury will require surgery.

The 5-foot-10, 214-pound back is likely headed for injured reserve, although it is possible he could be designed for return before the end of the the upcoming season.

McGuire, 24, managed 315 yards with a touchdown on 88 carries plus 17 receptions for 177 yards and another score as a rookie in 2017.

In an effort to fill the void, Rapoport indicates that the Jets are meeting with free agent veteran running backs including former Tulane star Orleans Darkwa.
