Here’s the monthly report of pitching and hitting stats for many of the 2022 major-league and minor-league players who prepped or played collegiately in the New Orleans area and Southeast Louisiana. All stats are cumulative for the season, through Wednesday August 31. Below are some of the highlights for the month.

After having the best month of his season in July, DJ LeMahieu (LSU) slumped badly in August, along with the Yankees as a team. His batting line was a meager .211/.276/.274, with only 1 home run and 4 RBIs.

On the other hand, Alex Bregman’s (LSU) month of August was his best of the 2022 season. He hit an amazing .365/.452/.681, with 7 home runs and 22 RBIs for the Astros. He had a career-high 6-RBI game against the White Sox on August 18.

Jake Fraley (LSU) raised his batting average 64 points in August, once he became an everyday player for the Reds. He scored a run in the “Field of Dreams” game against the Cubs on August 11.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman (LSU) leads the American League in Strikeouts Per Walk (7.13) and Fielding Independent Pitching (2.13).

Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola (Catholic HS, LSU) remains in third place in the National League in Strikeouts (190) and WHIP (0.973). He leads the NL in Bases on Balls Per 9 Innings (1.160). He pitched his first shutout of the season on August 25, with a 5-hit, 11-strikeout performance against the Reds.
