Strawberry Stadium

Top-seeded Holy Cross will host No. 8 seed Acadiana in a Division I quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Strawberry Stadium on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

The Tigers were unable to play at night on Friday or Saturday at their home facility, Tad Gormley Stadium, due to a conflict with the annual Celebration in the Oaks in City Park.

Holy Cross (9-2) defeated No. 16 Jesuit 42-0 in the regional round last Friday night.

Acadiana (9-2) downed District 3-5A rival Carencro 14-7 to advance.

City Park officials had offered to host the game on either Friday or Saturday afternoon at Gormley, but that would have been in conflict with LHSAA bylaws 14.14.4 and 14.14.5.

“Game time shall be set by mutual agreement. If an agreement cannot be reached, the starting time shall be 7:30 p.m. If a stadium conflict exists and/or a game time cannot be mutually agreed upon, then the home team shall set the starting time. The starting time shall not be before 5:00 p.m. and no later than 8:00 p.m.,” the bylaws read.
