Holy Cross 2022 wrestling senior night

The school with the most state championships in Louisiana prep wrestling history is Holy Cross.

The Tigers are always tough and always a contender for state honors.

After losing twins Evan and Jacob Frost, who transferred to an Iowa high school and changing head coaches, prospects for the 2021-22 season were appearing a bit bleak.

Out of the darkness, a light has emerged as the Tigers are surging late in the season, heading toward the state tournament next month in Baton Rouge.

The Tigers edged Catholic 32-31 Wednesday in a thriller on Senior Night in Gentilly.

The Bears actually won seven of the 13 matches contested but a forfeit and key pins for the Tigers enabled the home team to emerge victorious.

Scoring falls for Holy Cross were Dominick Durham (106), Nicholas Sauerwin (132) and Nick DiGeralamo (152).

Winning by pin for the Bears were Nicholas Migliacio (195) and David Russell (285).
