Holden landed four players on the softball squad, while Pitkin swept top honors on the baseball team to highlight the Class B All-State teams for baseball and softball as chosen by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Olivia Lackie led Holden to its third straight Class B team title. She was 21-2 with a 0.55 earned run average, striking out 288 batters. She also sported a hefty bat, carrying an average of .452.

Pitkin won the Class B baseball for the first time since 1999, led by Outstanding Player Garrett Edwards and Coach of the Year J.C. Holt. Forest head coach Chasity Griffin, who led her team to the Class B title game, was selected as the softball Coach of the Year.

Edwards was stellar on the mound for Pitkin. The junior had a record of 11-1 on the year, with a 0.46 ERA, his only loss being a 1-0 defeat early in district play. He also batted .423 for Pitkin en route toits title.

Holt, an Oak Hill graduate and a former LSU player, guided Pitkin to the state championship after a successful stint as head coach at Menard.

Lackie had three teammates from Holden named all-state as well in junior Emma Hutchinson (.341), eighth-grader Gracie Duffy (.420, 25 RBIs) and junior Ashley Fogg (.427, 24 RBIs).

Two of Edwards’ teammates — Grason Dauzat and Jonathan Baker — were chosen to the team. Dauzat had seven homers and a batting average of .425 for Pitkin, while Baker sported a .459 average. Dauzat and Baker also proved solid as pitchers for Pitkin this season.
