A dominant run through the 2019 postseason culminated in a second straight title for Rayville’s boys basketball team. The top-seeded Hornets averaged 106.6 points per game through the playoffs including a 61-48 win over No. 7 Port Allen in Class 2A title game.

Another title helped Rayville place three players on Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State team selected by a panel of writers from across.

The Hornets’ Mylik Wilson was voted on the Outstanding Player on the 2A squad after averaging 18 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. He is a University of Louisiana at Lafayette signee. He is joined on the first team by JaMarkus Wilson.

JaMichael Wilson was a second-team choice for RHS.

Mike McGuireMike McGuire of Division III select champion Metairie Park Country Day (pictured) was voted the 2A Coach of the Year for the boys squad.

North Caddo’s Destiny Rice, an Alabama signee, was sidelined by an injury in the title game. That did not keep Rice from being voted the Outstanding Player on the 2A girls squad. She averaged 27 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists per game. Aaron Agresta of Division III runner-up Northlake Christian was voted Coach of the Year on the girls squad.

Fourth-seeded Mansfield upended No. 2 North Caddo 42-34 in the title game. Junior Sha’Kahia Warmsley of Mansfield also made the first team with averages of 19 points and 6 rebounds per game.

JaMarkus Wilson of Rayville had averages of 15.0 points and 10 rebounds.

Dunham’s Jordan Wright (19.1 ppg, 8 rpg), Red River’s Emareyon McDonald (16 ppg, 7 apg) and Country Day’s Kaleb Jenkins (16.8 ppg. 5.5 rpg) complete the boys first team.

Rice and Warmley were joined on the girls first team by Northlake Christian’s Kyren Whittington (18 ppg, 6 rpg) and Red River’s Makayia Hallmon (25.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Jaylyn James (22.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg) of Division III girls champion St. Thomas Aquinas.
