Haynes-Lusher scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Pan American

Haynes Academy will play Lusher Academy will meet on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Pan American Stadium.

The two were originally scheduled to play at Joe Yenni Stadium on Thursday.

This game will be the first of the season for both schools.

Lusher had games with Newman and Rosenwald Collegiate canceled while Haynes had games with Springfield and Grace King canceled due to the effects of Hurricane Ida.

“Instead of trying to scramble and push, we just decided that Pan American was available and we jumped on it to play,” Haynes coach Ben Powell said. “I am hoping that things will be good the following week for Joe Yenni Stadium.

“We made the decision early and made it happen. It will be our first contact. We did not have a scrimmage or jamboree. It will be interesting. We are excited for the kids. We did practice yesterday with only one or two young men still out of state.”
