Haynes blanks Ben Franklin, 35-0

Haynes had a total of 25 running plays on its first three series and all ended with a touchdown. Thereafter, the Jackets relied on their stout defernse which forced turnovers, grabbed interceptions and stopped fourth-down attempts en route to a 35-0 victory over Ben Franklin Thursday at Joe Yenni Stadium.

Haynes, 2-1, took the opening kick and march 47 yards, in 12 plays for the early lead.

Holding Ben Franklin to six plays on its initial possession, the Jackets got possession, following a punt, on their own 24. Fifteen plays, 76 yards later the Jackets had a 13 point lead.

A fumbled snapped on a fourth down punt attempt, gave the Jackets the ball at the Falcons five. On first down quarterback Zach Bott kept and scored as Haynes led 21-0 with 5:33 left in the half.

Haynes’ biggest play of the night came with less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half.

Defensive back Jacob Meilleur intercepted a Willie Jackson pass and returned the ball 100 yards for an apparent touchdown. However, a flag on the play nullified the score and Haynes had the ball at its 40. At that point, Haynes a one-play untimed down to end the first half.

Senior fullback, Paul Longo, led the Jackets with 13 rushes for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback, Zach Bott, had 7 rushes for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Ashton Clay had 8 rushes for 40 yards and reserve quarterback Josh Farley had three rushes for 20 yards and one touchdown.
