St. Martin’s Episcopal running back Harlem Berry has been selected as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week for the metro New Orleans area for week 13 by the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club, Crescent City Sports, NASH ICON 106.1 FM and WGNO/WNOL Friday Night Football.

A sophomore, Berry rushed 29 times for 306 yards and four touchdowns as St. Martin’s rallied past St. Mary’s 29-25 in the Select Division I state quarterfinals, leading the Saints to their first semifinal appearance in school history.

Berry is coached by Frank Gendusa.

“In all my years of coaching, I have not had a better player at this stage of his development than Harlem,” Gendusa said. “He is a special talent and a special young man who is only going to get better. His work ethic, his speed, his vision are simply outstanding. We rode him all the way in this game.”

Berry will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, December 13 at The Cannery in New Orleans.
