Grambling, Texas Southern reach semifinals of SWAC baseball

NEW ORLEANS – Rafael Ramirez had three hits and four RBI to lead Grambling to a 12-7 victory over Alabama State Thursday night in a winner’s bracket game of the SWAC baseball championship at the MLB Urban Youth Academy at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

WIth the victory, the Tigers (25-24) are in the semifinals and need just one win to advance to Sunday’s nationally televised championship game.

Texas Southern is in the same position in the other half of the bracket after defeating Jackson State 8-4 earlier Thursday.

Friday’s action gets started with a pair of elimination games beginning at 9 a.m. The winners of the first two games will each play a doubleheader, as Texas Southern and Grambling wait in the wings.
