Grambling, Southern among SWAC baseball first-day winners
Grambling and Southern claimed opening-round victories as the SWAC baseball tournament began Wednesday at the MLB Urban Youth Academy at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
The Tigers opened the tournament with a run-rule 14-4 victory over Alcorn State, while the Jaguars – who won the West Division regular-season title – rallied to defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 11-7 in the day’s final game.
Grambling meets Alabama State in one winner’s bracket game at 3 p.m. Thursday, while Southern takes on two-time defending champion Texas Southern at 6 p.m.
The tournament continues through Sunday. Daily tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
