Unplayable baseball field

TYLER, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana baseball gained three forfeit victories in the Red River Athletic Conference from Texas College due to unplayable conditions at Glass Field.

Rain Thursday and Friday took a toll on the grass-and-dirt playing surface. The result was a muddy infield and — as of 8:45 a.m. Saturday — a still-standing area of water behind third base.

Next for the Gold Rush: a three-game RRAC home series against Texas A&M-Texarkana at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans. XULA and the Eagles will play at 5 p.m. CDT Friday, then at 2 p.m. Saturday in a doubleheader.
