Girls Bowling: Chapelle defeats Cabrini; AOL tops Patrick Taylor

In a matchup of two playoff bound girls bowling teams from the New Orleans region, Archbishop Chapelle defeated Cabrini 20-7 Thursday at Colonial Lanes in Harahan.

The Chipmunks (11-1) shot a 2,770 team series, taking a 6-2 lead after one game and a 13-3 lead after two.

Olivia Bares, who closed out the regular season with the highest girls’ average in the region, had games of 242 and 222 as part of a 636 series to lead Chapelle.

The Crescents (8-4), who honored their four seniors post-match, got a team-best 474 series from one of their seniors. Leah Heller.

Chapelle was sixth and Cabrini 12th in the unofficial LHSAA power rankings released earlier Thursday. If the Chips move up to fifth as expected in the final rankings, the teams could meet again in the first round of the playoffs on March 22 in Baton Rouge.

Academy of Our Lady 25, Patrick Taylor 2: The Penguins closed the regular season with a victory over the Tigers at Westside Lanes in Harvey.

Laney Sasso opened with a 213 as part of a 570 series to lead AOL (9-3), which entered Thursday at No. 11 in the power rankings.

Sajeda Murad’s middle-game 136 was the best of the day for Patrick Taylor (4-8).
