Girls Bowling: Chapelle, Cabrini, AOL capture wins

In a matchup of the last remaining girls bowling unbeatens in the New Orleans area, Archbishop Chapelle rolled to a 26-1 victory over Kenner Discovery Monday at Colonial Lanes in Harahan.

Reigning state high school singles champion Sarah Rubi led the Chipmunks with a 678 series on games of 245-219-214. Gabrielle Fischer had a 205 opening game and Madalyn Haas a 200 for Chapelle (5-0).

Tassie Cahill led the Swamp Owls (2-1) with a 414 series.

Cabrini 22½, Mount Carmel 4½: At AMF All Star Lanes in the Kenner, the Crescents easily defeated the Cubs.

Calley Chauvin had a 438 series, including a 171 opening game, to lead Cabrini (3-2). Jaiden DeGeorge had a 164 first game.

Taylor Hunn of Mount Carmel (1-3) had the match’s high game, 194, to key a 487 series.

Academy of Our Lady 19, Salmen 8: Also at AMF, the two-time defending state champion Penguins pulled away in the final game to defeat the Spartans.

AOL (3-1) led 9-7 after two games before capturing seven of eight points in the third game and the three-point bonus for total pins.

AOL’s Hailee Griffin closed with a 181 for a 490 series, while Emily Floyd of Salmen (1-2) led all bowlers in the match with a 561 set, including a 238 middle game.
