Area Girls Prep Basketball Report for Friday, Nov. 30

On an annual basis, Lester Smith has a solid program at West St. John.

His Lady Rams play tough competition and are always a factor in the playoffs.

The Lady Rams led 11-7 after one quarter and broke the game open by pitching a shutout in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 13-0 to take a 24-7 lead at halftime. The lead grew to 36-12 going to the fourth quarter.

West St. John (5-2) was led by junior Kylie Adams, who scored 19 points while eighth-grader Mickel Waxter and senior Nazel Breaux each added five points.

West St. John returns to action Tuesday, hosting McMain at 6 p.m. while East Jefferson (0-8) remained winless. The Warriors return to action Monday, hosting St. Mary’s Academy at 5 pm. St. Mary’s defeated Port Allen 30-25 Thursday.
