Girls Basketball: St. Thomas Aquinas handles Northlake Christian

Area Girls Prep Basketball Report for Wednesday, Nov. 5

In a battle of a pair of teams Tuesday that will contend for Division III honors statewide, St. Thomas Aquinas whipped Northlake Christian 56-40 at Hammond.

The Lady Falcons jumped on top immediately, taking a 16-7 lead after one quarter before expanding the lead to 34-16 by halftime and STA maintained the lead the rest of the way with Northlake Christian closing to within seven points on a couple of occasions but never getting any closer.

Jaylyn James led the Lady Falcons with 22 points while Kyren Whittington topped the Lady Wolverines with 21 points.

St. Thomas Aquinas (4-3) returns to action next Tuesday at Zachary at 5:30 p.m. while Northlake Christian (5-2) seeks to rebound Friday at Archbishop Hannan at 6 p.m.
