Gilroy adds 6 athletes to McNeese fall track and field signing class

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Track/Field and Cross-Country Head Coach Brendon Gilroy announced Thursday the signing of six new athletes to his Fall signing class.

They will join Olivia Tzschach, Kayla Warner, Aubry Weyerstrass, Stone Marion in the 2020 Fall signing class.

Jemira Thomlinson • GR-Transfer • Throws • Houston, TX • Houston Baptist
Pamela Kosgei • JR-Transfer • Distance • Eldoret, Kenya • Middle Tennessee State
Maja Gebauer • FR-Transfer • Pole Vault • Budapest, Hungary • Drake University

Kaitlyn Brown • FR • Long Distance • Tioga, LA • Tioga HS

Brown is a multi-sport athlete for Tioga HS where she played basketball as well as XC and Track. This year she finished 4th at the LA State Indoor Championships in the mile.

“She’s definitely a competitor,” Coach Gilroy said, “she was making great strides on the track this indoor season while sharing time on the basketball court, definitely a diamond in the rough!”

Sean Maher • FR • Hammer Throw • Dublin, Ireland • Raheny Shamrock Academy

Maher has had a lot of success nationally and internationally in the Hammer throw in the youth divisions. Maher joins former McNeese great David Rooney as an athlete from the Raheny Shamrock AC.

Kayla Harrison • FR • Sprints/Hurdles • Shreveport, LA • Byrd HS

Harrison comes from one of the top programs in North Louisiana. She is an accomplished long hurdler and will add depth to an already formidable ladies 4x400m crew.

Jemira Thomlinson • GR-Transfer • Throws • Houston, TX • Houston Baptist

Thomlinson finished the 2020 indoor season ranked #2 in the Women’s Weight in the Southland Conference. She has the ’21 Outdoor season remaining and will pursue her MBA and focus on discus, hammer throw, and javelin.

Pamela Kosgei • JR-Transfer • Distance • Eldoret, Kenya • Middle Tennessee State

Kosgei will make an immediate impact for the Cowgirls in cross country and distance events for the Cowgirls. She was the runner up at the Conference-USA indoors 5000m for MTSU. She will have two years remaining of eligibility and will pursue Med Lab Science Degree.

Maja Gebauer • FR-Transfer • Pole Vault • Budapest, Hungary • Drake University

Gebauer will make an immediate impact for the Cowgirls in the pole vault. She was the runner up in the MVC Indoors as a freshman for Drake University. She has competed internationally for her country of Hungary and has three indoor and four outdoor seasons remaining of eligibility while pursuing her degree in Chemistry and Biology.
