Alexandria, La. – The LSUA women’s basketball team continued add more quality to its line-up with the addition of the team’s second NCAA Division I transfer of the offseason as Courtney Dawsey signed her letter of intent to join the Generals on Thursday.

Dawsey, a point guard from Hammond, La., joins the Generals after playing two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 50 games for the Lady Lions, she averaged just more than two points per game on 32.0% shooting while also dishing out an assist per game in just about 11 minutes played per contest during her time in green and gold. In an exhibition contest against LSUA to kick off SELU’s 2017-18 season, she was nearly perfect, hitting three of the four shots she took, including her lone three point attempt, and both free throws she tried, finishing with nine points to go along with five assists in 18 minutes of action against the Generals.

She joined the Lions after prepping at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in hometown of Hammond, where she helped lead the Falcons to three appearances in the LHSAA Top 28, including a Class 2A State Championship as a freshman. A Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winner, she was twice named All-State, including a First Team nod as a senior in 2016. She was also a state champion in track, having won the individual title in the 300 meter hurdles as a sophomore.

Dawsey will have two years of eligibility remaining when she joins LSUA this fall, where she plans on pursuing a degree in business with the hopes of eventually working in a college athletics department.
