From the Coach’s Office: Opening Day
Aug. 1 is a special date for me.
For 19 years as the head coach at St. James High School, it was reporting day, marking the opening of the new football season. I believed that it was important that we hit the ground running with high organization, preparation and enthusiasm.
It is now the opening date of CrescentCitySports.com.
For those 19 seasons I used the same outline from my very first year there in 1992. I did not give the same speech and I modified the outline every year, but the principles remained the same. It is important that an organization of any kind be built on timeless principles, ideas that would be forever true.
Here is the outline of my opening speech, The St. James Wildcat Football Philosophy. You will note the date is March 19, 1992, from the opening day of our first spring practice.
I am excited that my first contribution to CrescentCitySports.com would come on Aug. 1. The season has officially begun!
