FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University senior quarterback Chase Fourcade has been named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It marks the first conference weekly honor for the Colonels this season and second for Fourcade in his career.

Playing in his final home debut, Fourcade accounted for 375 yards of total offense and two touchdowns against No. 10/11 Central Arkansas, and in doing so, eclipsed the 10,000-yard mark for his career. Already the program’s all-time leader, he became the seventh player in Southland history to reach the milestone.

His performance paved the way for a convincing 34-14 victory over No. 10/11 Central Arkansas. He completed 24 of 29 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown and added 48 yards rushing and another score. The passing TD put him one shy of matching the program record.

For defensive player of the week, senior lineman Sully Laiche received honorable mention after recording seven tackles with three for loss and a sack.
