Four exhibition opponents scheduled for Tulane Men’s Basketball’s Spain tour

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men’s basketball program has finalized exhibition game opponents, dates and times during its August 9-19 foreign tour of Spain.

The Green Wave’s first game will be played on Friday, Aug. 11 against Alcobendas, a sports club in the city of Alcobendas, a suburb of Madrid. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., local time (12:30 p.m. CT). Tulane will play its second game in the city on Sunday, Aug. 13 against Madrid Select. Start time will be the same as Friday’s contest.

Between tours and leisure activities, Tulane’s third game will be played on Wednesday, Aug. 16 in Mataro against Barcelona Select. Tip is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. local time (1:15 p.m. CT) and will be played at Poliesportiu Municipal Teresa. The Green Wave’s fourth and final contest will come against the Mataro All-Stars on Friday, Aug. 18 and will begin at 9:15 p.m. locally (2:15 p.m. CT).

Per NCAA rules, the Green Wave can conduct as many as 10 practices as a team prior to departing for their international tour, which second-year head coach Mike Dunleavy, Sr. and his staff have already begun.

Tulane’s trip to Spain will occur during the 25-year anniversary of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games which were held in Barcelona. The Games marked the first time NBA players were able to compete. The team the United States assembled won gold and is still renowned as the Dream Team.
