Former New Orleans Saints safety Ray Brown dead at 74
Former New Orleans Saints safety Ray Brown has passed away, confirmed by his son, Derek Tice-Brown. Brown was 74.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Brown played at West Texas State and was drafted in the sixth round by the Atlanta Falcons in 1971.
Brown played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1971-77 before moving on to the Saints, for whom he played from 1978-1980. He saw action in 43 games, starting 38.
Brown had 38 interceptions in his illustrious career, returning two for touchdowns. Brown recorded seven of those with the Saints and he recovered three fumbles in his three seasons in New Orleans.
With the Saints, he formed a formidable pair at safety with Saints Hall of Fame inductee Tommy Myers.
