Former LSU standout Shelbi Sunseri named McNeese softball assistant coach
LAKE CHARLES — McNeese softball head coach James Landreneau has announced the addition of former LSU pitcher/utility Shelbi Sunseri to the Cowgirl coaching staff, serving as the pitching coach.
In her final season at LSU in 2022, Sunseri posted an 8-7 overall record in the circle with a 3.23 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 102 innings. At the plate, she batted .267, was second on the team with 15 home runs and third on the team with 41 RBI.
During her career, Sunseri was named to the NFCA All-Region team three times, earning All-American honors in 2019. She was also named to the All-Louisiana Team twice, the All-SEC team once and was a member of the All-SEC Defensive team once.
Sunseri posted a won 39-24 career record with 263 strikeouts in 414.2 innings, and a 2.41 ERA. At the plate she finished her career with a .285 batting average, 48 home runs, 37 doubles, and 159 RBIs.
This past summer, Sunseri was a member of the Smash-It Sports Vipers in the upstart Women’s Professional Fastpitch league.
