The New Orleans Saints have six positive COVID-19 cases among their assistant coaches. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported five coaches were positive but the Associated Press later stated per two sources that six assistants, a nutritionist and a player were among the COVID-19 cases.

The player in question is injured Saints receiver Michael Thomas , who was also placed on the COVID-19 reserve list.

Saints head coach Sean Payton stated last month that the entire staff was vaccinated.

Following the positive tests, NFL.com reports the Saints “will be in enhanced COVID-19 mitigation protocol” per league policy. A mask mandate and daily testing for all players and staff regardless of vaccination status is part of the protocol.
