Ex-Tulane tennis standout Koepfer to represent Germany, compete in Tokyo Olympic Games

Former Green Wave student-athlete was a two-time All-American

NEW ORLEANS – Former Tulane University men’s tennis star Dominik Koepfer will take center stage later on this month at the Tokyo Olympic Games where he will look to bring home a gold medal as part of Team Germany.

“I am very excited to play the Olympics and represent Germany,” Koepfer said. “It is every athlete’s dream to compete at the Olympics and now it’s become reality.”

Koepfer ranks No. 62 in the most recent ATP Tour rankings and currently is competing on the grass courts of Wimbledon where he has advanced to the third round of the championship.

As a student-athlete at Tulane, Koepfer earned All-America honors in 2015 and 2016. He also was selected as the ITA National Men’s Senior Player of the Year. In addition, Koepfer captured the 2015 National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship crown.

The Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games will feature a record 33 competitions and 339 events held across 42 competition venues. Click here for a complete event schedule. The Olympic games are set for July 23 – Aug. 8.
