Elton High School cancels 2020 football season due to COVID-19

Elton High School has canceled its 2020 football season due to a shortage in number of players due in part to COVID-19.

The Indians were down to 20 players, 10 of which were freshmen. KPLC-TV reports Elton lost nine players over the past few months because of COVID-19 concerns.

Elton is the first school in Louisiana to publicly cancel their varsity football amid the pandemic.

The LHSAA regular season is scheduled to start Oct. 1.
