Elton handles rival Oberlin, 49-14

ELTON, La. – The Elton Indians bested their rivals, the Oberlin Tigers, in the Parish Line Classic on Thursday night, 49-14.

It tool little time for Elton to take charge. The Indians led 19-0 after the first quarter on a 54-yard touchdown run by junior running back Darnell Robinson, a three-yard touchdown run by senior receiver Jeremy Leonard and a 60-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Keshawn Lyons to senior receiver Derrick Finnley.

Oberlin found their way onto the scoreboard to start the second quarter on a 12-yard touchdown pass from senior James Kirklin to sophomore Levi Peloquin.

The Indians answered quickly, driving down the field and fighting their way into the end zone on a 14-yard touchdown run by Lyons to take a commanding 27-6 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Lyons threw a bubble pass to senior receiver Gavin Courville who then launched the ball downfield to junior Kervondrick Scott for a touchdown to start off a big third quarter for Elton.

Lyons threw his second touchdown pass of the night, connecting with Leonard. Elton followed it up with a 37-yard touchdown run by Robinson to maintain a 49-6 lead after the third quarter.

A one-yard touchdown run by Oberlin sophomore Collin Chatman in the fourth quarter capped the scoring.

The Indians finish the regular season at 4-3 in district play and 6-3 overall. Oberlin finishes the season at 4-3 in district play and 6-4 overall.
