Dominican Volleyball

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Saturday, Sept. 19

Make it 5-0 against quality opponents for Dominican.

It should come as no surprise after a season in which Dominican reached the Division I championship match in 2019.

Dominican won at home Friday over Fontainebleau 25-20, 25-14, 25-18.

Sophomore O’Neil Haddad led the way with 10 kills and three blocks, senior Elizabeth Hardouin finished with eight kills. Junior Kate Baker finished with 17 digs and 29 assists while junior Brooke Couret had 16 digs. Freshman Cameryn Chatellier had two aces.

Dominican head coach Jessica Chatellier is very pleased with the way her team has adapted to difficult times.

“I am proud of the way we have been playing,” Chatellier said. “It was a rough start getting back into competition. The key factor is finding consistency with this group. They’ve really done a good job coming out and starting fast. Today was the first day with fans. It was nice to have energy in the room, even though it was limited.”

Dominican has also defeated John Curtis Christian, Northshore, Archbishop Hannan and Academy of The Sacred Heart (NO).

“I can appreciate the fact that we have a lot of versatility,” Chatellier said. “I have asked them to play different positions than normal and they are just rolling with it. Everything I throw at them, they accept it. It’s nice to have so any kids who can bring so any things to the table and having the versatility in our lineup.”

Dominican returns to action Saturday, hosting H.L. Bourgeois and Cabrini while the Bulldogs (3-2) returns to action next Tuesday at Northshore at 5:30 p.m.

“Both are good programs and I know they will provide good tests from two good teams tomorrow,” Chatellier said.
