Volleyball: Dominican, Ben Franklin, St. Scholastica, Riverdale post wins Thursday
Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Sept. 9
Two-time defending Division I state champion Dominican remained unbeaten with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-11 win over two-time defending Division III state champion Archbishop Hannan at home Thursday.
Cam Chatellier was outstanding with 19 kills while Anne Hardouin added 12 kills for Dominican. Other standouts were Gabby Marcello with 42 assists, Lauren Pipitone with 17 digs, Zoe Smith with 13 digs, Gabby Marcello with 11 digs and Zoe Smith with two aces.
Dominican (4-0) will host Dutchtown next Tuesday while the Hawks (3-1) will travel to Dunham next Tuesday.
Ben Franklin impressed by handling Destrehan 25-18, 25-18, 25-12 at home Thursday.
Annika Roberson led the offense with 10 kills while Aubrey Muirhead had eight kills and four blocks. Sophie Roussel had seven kills and two aces and Cori Staes finished with seven kills. Kat Kondkar had 13 assists and served two aces, Zoe Bell had 19 digs and Emma Fisackerly finished with 13 digs for the Falcons.
Ben Franklin (9-1) has lost only to Archbishop Chapelle. The Falcons travel to Ursuline Academy next Tuesday while the Wildcats (3-4) will play at Sacred Heart of New Orleans next Monday.
St. Scholastica won its second straight match, rallying from a set down to defeat Slidell at home 27-29, 25-9, 25-13, 25-19.
Laurel Bobrowski led the attack with nine kills, five digs and two aces, Julia Whitfield finished with seven kills and seven blocks, Lauren Gazeley had eight kills and four digs and Mary Elle Migliore contributed 10 digs for the Doves.
SSA (2-2) returns to action next Tuesday, hosting Ponchatoula while the Tigers (3-4) will host Fontainebleau Monday.
Riverdale made it two straight wins, taking a 25-22, 25-11, 25-21 victory at Springfield.
Arely Rojas had seven kills and three aces, Celeste Dicharry recorded five kills and Isabelle Cox had 16 digs, two kills and an ace.
The Rebels (3-2) play at Chalmette next Wednesday while Springfield (5-6) lost its third straight match and will next travel to Live Oak next Tuesday.
