Dillard’s Neal and Young, Xavier’s Blair earn first GCAC volleyball awards of season

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Desire Neal (Dillard), Chloe Young (Dillard) and Semira Blair (Xavier) have been named as this week’s GCAC Attacker, Defender, and Setter of the Week, respectively, as voted on by the conference’s Sports Information Directors.

Neal was deadly in DU’s home victory over Blue Mountain College, posting 13 kills on 18 attacks with zero errors for a hitting percentage of 0.722. She led the team in kills during both contests last week while also contributing five digs and two blocks.

Young tallied double-digit dig totals in both matches, topping the Lady Bleu Devils with 17 digs in the win over the Lady Toppers and recording eight assists total as well.

Blair earned the distinction of being the first Gold Nugget player in the past 11 seasons to log 20-plus digs and assists in a single match, posting 21 of each for a double-double versus Our Lady of the Lake on Friday.
