Three area boys teams advanced with victories in the LHSAA boys soccer playoffs Saturday.

In Division I, No. 11 Destrehan outlasted No. 22 East Ascension 5-2 in overtime.

The score was certainly misleading. The Wildcats and Spartans played to a 2-2 tie in regulation but Destrehan dominated the overtime period, scoring three goals, to advance.

It was a game with wild momentum swings.

East Ascension dominated the first half, scoring both of its goals to take a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Destrehan dominated the second half, tying the game with a pair of goals, setting the stage for overtime.

Sophomore Owen Alack scored a pair of goals for the Wildcats while sophomore Will Bryant and junior Nicholas Morrow each had a goal and an assist. Senior Michael Cespedes had the other goal for the Wildcats.

Destrehan (15-6-1) advances to face a rematch with No. 6 Brother Martin in the regional round. The Crusaders shutout the Wildcats 4-0 at Brother Martin on Jan. 14.

In Division III, No. 13 Archbishop Hannan took down No. 20 Cecilia 3-1.

Henry Nader was the star, scoring a pair of goals, while Logan Forjet added the third goal for the Hawks.

Hannan (8-9-6) advances to play at fourth-seeded E.D. White Catholic in the regional round.

In Division IV, No. 9 Country Day whipped No. 24 Houma Christian 6-1.

After being tied early at 1-1, the Cajuns dominated the rest of the way, scoring the final three goals of the first half and two more in the second half to coast to victory.

Andrew Lopez stole the show, scoring four goals in a brilliant performance, while Sammy Nichols and Thomas Saer each added a goal. Carter Poole was solid in goal for the Cajuns.

Country Day (7-10-1) advances to travel to Slidell for a rematch with No. 8 Pope John Paul II in the regional round. The Cajuns won 2-1 at Pope John Paul II on Jan. 11.
