UNO’s Derek St. Hilaire ready for packed Final Four weekend

NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans scoring sensation Derek St. Hilaire is set for a busy couple of days as the Privateer’s leading scorer is set to participate in three prestigious events leading up to the Final Four this weekend.

On Thursday night the Atlanta native is set to represent UNO in the Great Clips College Slam Dunk Championship. The competition will feature St. Bonaventure’s Jalen AdawayLynn College’s Branden EllisGrand Canyon’s Sean Miller-MooreHouston’s Taze MooreCreighton’s Alex O’Connell, and Wake Forest’s Alondes Williams.

The 2022 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will be held at Xavier University’s Convocation Center with the action getting underway at 8:00 p.m. and broadcast on ESPN. Tickets are on sale to the general public and can be purchased here starting at $10 – any fan bringing a personal hygiene item (in original packing) to be donated to families in need will receive a free ticket to the event.

On Friday afternoon Derek has been selected to participate in the NABC’s prestigious Reese’s College All-Star Game at the Caesar’s Superdome at 3:30 p.m. St. Hilaire joins BYU’s Alex BarcelloKentucky’s Davion MintzWest Virginia’s Taz ShermanKansas State’s Mark SmithArkansas’ Stanley UmudeMichigan State’s Gabe BrownVermon’s Ryan DavisBelmont’s Nick Muszynski, and Michighan State’s Marcus Bingham Jr. on the West Roster – coached by Missouri’s Dennis Gates. He joins Ervin Johnson as the only Privateer to be selected for the NABC All-Star game.

The Reese’s All-Star game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Admission is free and open to the public. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and early arrivers can watch Villanova (11 a.m.), Kansas (12:00 p.m.), North Carolina (1:00 p.m.), and Duke (2:00 p.m.) practice.

St. Hilaire wraps up his weekend in the Dos Equis’ 3v3U National Championship between Friday and Sunday at the Sugar Mill. He joins the Southwest Souljas with players from the Big12 and Southland and will compete in Pool C. Pool play takes place on Friday and Saturday with the top two teams in each pool receiving a bye to the quarter-finals. A full schedule of all games is available here.

Pool play and opening-round games in the Dos Equis’ 3v3U National Championship will air on ESPNU, or @3X3UHoops on Twitter. The final round of games on Sunday will all air live on ESPN2.
