After a postponement Saturday because of the forecast for inclement weather, Delgado Community College and Connors State (Oklahoma) College will play Sunday to decide who advances to the Junior College World Series.

The South Central District championship round at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin, Missouri, begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, with a second game to follow, if necessary.

The Dolphins (36-13) need two wins over the Cowboys to make their sixth trip to the JUCO World Series, while Connors needs to win just once to advance to Grand Junction, Colorado.

Delgado went 1-1 on the opening day of the three-team, double-elimination event Friday, while Connors was 2-0. The Cowboys defeated the Dolphins 15-0 in the first game of the day before both teams knocked off host Crowder College, eliminating the Roughriders.

More than a half-inch of rain fell in Joplin on Saturday, but Sunday’s forecast calls for afternoon sunshine and highs in the mid-70s.
