Delgado takes pair of 9-7 wins in doubleheader sweep of BRCC

Delgado swept Baton Rouge Community College in a pair of 9-7 victories in Tuesday evening’s conference doubleheader at Brusly High School in Baton Rouge.

In the first game, Lane LeBlanc’s pinch hit three run homerun in the seventh gave Delgado an 8-7 lead before Brayden Caskey’s two out single added an insurance run towards the Dolphins eventual 9-7 win.

Baton Rouge took an early 1-0 lead in the first before Delgado answered with four runs in the third inning following a leadoff single by Brayden Caskey and doubles by Brayden Jobert, Brennan Lambert, and Jobee Boone. Baton Rouge took the 6-5 lead with five runs in the fourth following a leadoff single, two Delgado errors, and a double by Parker Autry.

Brennan Lambert’s solo homerun in the fifth cut the lead to two runs before LeBlanc’s three run homer gave Delgado the lead in the seventh.

In game two, Jobee Boone’s homerun in the fourth inning gave Delgado a 1-0 lead with the game’s first run. Delgado added two in the fifth on a leadoff double by Brayden Jobert and a two run home run by Ethan Lege for the 3-0 lead. Baton Rouge answered with three in the bottom frame to tie the game 3-3.

The Dolphins added three in the sixth on two singles and an error before Baton Rouge added a run in the bottom of the inning to make for a 6-4 game. Jobee Boone led off the seventh with a solo homerun before Delgado added two more in the eighth when Brayden Caskey reached as a hit batter and scored on Brayden Jobert’s home run.

Baton Rouge plated a run in the eighth on a solo homerun by Alex Guilbeau before threatening with a two run, four hit ninth inning before reliever Kaile Levatino retired the bases loaded threat to secure Delgado’s 9-7 win and the sweep.

With the wins, Delgado improves to 27-11 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
