Delgado defeats Snead State 13-6 to open weekend series

Delgado defeated Snead State (Alabama) 13-6 Friday to open a four-game weekend series at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Brandon Briuglio reached on a double in the first and scored on a single by Grant Schulz. Blake Freeman homered to score Schulz and give the Dolphins a 3-0 lead. Snead hit the board in the second on an infield error.

In the Delgado second, Hayden Fuentes reached on a walk and scored on a wild pitch. Brandon Briuglio and Blake Way reached on back-to-back walks before scoring on a two run single by Grant Schulz. The Dolphins added two in the fourth and another two in the fifth following a two-run double by Ross Scelfo.

Snead threatened in the seventh with three runs before Delgado countered with three in the bottom frame to close the scoring enroute to a 13-6 victory.

Dolphin starter Sean Bretz picked up the win, pitching six innings and striking out nine with Dwain Varisco earning the save.

The two teams will meet Saturday in a 1:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
