Delgado defeated Pensacola State College 7-2 Friday evening in the opening game of a three-game weekend series at Pirate Park in Pensacola, Florida.

Pensacola State plated two runs in the first on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Brandon Schrepf to take a 2-0 lead. Delgado cut the lead in half in the third when Brayden Caskey reached on an error, advanced on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

Caskey was later hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning, stole second and advanced on a groundout, and scored on a Pensacola error to tie the game 2-2. In the sixth, Caskey doubled to plate two runs and give Delgado a 4-2 lead when he scored Jobee Boone and Connor Feustle, who had reached on a error and single respectively.

In the seventh, Ethan Lege led off with a double and scored on a double by Brennan Lambert. Lambert scored on an infield error that allowed Josh Alexander to reach base safely. Branyan Bounds’ sacrifice fly plated Alexander for Delgado’s seventh and final run.

Starting pitcher Chris Olivier went 4.1 innings to earn the win, striking out seven batters and walking three.
