McNeese defensive coordinator Grady Brown has left the program just ahead of the Southland Conference’s spring football schedule to coach cornerbacks at Houston.

Having never coached a game in his 13 months with the Cowboys, Brown came to Lake Charles after one season as co-defensive coordinator at Old Dominion.

McNeese head coach Frank Wilson statement on defensive coordinator Grady Brown

“I want to thank Coach Grady Brown for his time here at McNeese and wish him nothing but the best. We’re excited about the players we signed today to complete our 2021 signing class and are anxious to get the spring season started on February 13 at Tarleton State. The future is now for McNeese football and we look forward to competing for Southland Conference and National Championships.”

Brown has also coached as an assistant at South Carolina, Louisville, LSU, Southern Miss, Birmingham Southern, Texas Southern, Alabama State and Alabama A&M.
