De La Salle-St. Augustine broadcast highlights Thursday prep football slate
Two teams who enjoyed excellent seasons in 2017 collide in the featured Thursday matchup in the New Orleans area.
De La Salle (1-0) squares off with St. Augustine (1-0) at 7 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The Cavaliers opened the season in impressive fashion with a 33-0 victory over South Lafourche.
De La Salle picked up where it left off a year ago when the Cavaliers were the top-seed and reached the Division II state championship game. The Cavs accumulated 429 total yards against the Tarpons, including 373 rushing.
Senior Kendall Collins rushed six times for 102 yards and two scores, Brandon Phillips had 11 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Fisher Rojas rushed 10 times for 67 yards and completed 7-of-14 passes for 56 yards. Collins also returned a kickoff 58 yards. Quincy Thomas has an interception and De La Salle limited South Lafourche to just 72 total yards.
St. Augustine handled rival McDonogh 35 by a 27-6 margin.
The Purple Knights totaled 305 yards and had balance, rushing for 155 yards and passing for 150. Trevon Woodson was 7-of-18 for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception and rushed six times for 18 yards and a score. Justin Doyle led St. Aug with 16 carries for 84 yards and Broderick Martin had seven rushed for 44 yards and a score. Josh White had a 55-yard touchdown catch. Defensively, Jaheim Walters returned an interception 77 yards for a touchdown.
The Purple Knights reached the quarterfinals in Division I a year ago, falling to eventual state champion Catholic of Baton Rouge 7-3.
Last year, De La Salle handled St. Augustine 38-12 at Yulman Stadium as Julien Gums, now at Nicholls, rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns and passed for a third score while Collins rushed 20 times for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Also tonight, John Curtis Christian faces a tough task against Texas power Bishop Lynch at 6 p.m. in the Battle on the Border at Independence Stadium in Shreveport while Sophie B. Wright travels to Donaldsonville to face Ascension Catholic at 7 p.m.
The game between Riverdale and Haynes scheduled for Joe Yenni Stadium has been canceled.
