De La Salle looks to bounce back after sanctions, Karr seeks unbeaten season in Thursday night action
On the final weekend of the football regular season, seven games kick off the slate today and tonight in the Greater New Orleans area.
After losing its appeal and forfeiting its first six games of the season, including four victories, De La Salle looks for a second straight win against Thomas Jefferson (2-5) in a District 11-3A contest at 6:30 p.m. at Hoss Memtsas Stadium.
The Cavaliers (1-5) are now 11th in the Division II power ratings.
Also in 11-3A, Kenner Discovery (4-2) takes on Haynes Academy (3-4) at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Yenni Stadium.
In District 10-3A, Sophie B. Wright (3-3) meets Douglass (2-4) at 7:30 p.m. at Pan American Stadium.
In District 7-5A, Hahnville (4-2) looks to make it five straight wins at Terrebonne (1-5) at 7 p.m.
In District 8-5A, Grace King (2-4) takes on Bonnabel (2-4) at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Yenni Stadium. Both teams are on the outside looking in a the 5A playoffs.
In District 10-4A, Helen Cox (2-4) faces a tall task against top-ranked and unbeaten Karr (7-0) at 7 p.m. at Behrman Stadium. The Cougars are 31st in the current 4A power ratings but should get enough power points from Karr to make the playoff field, even with a loss but a rematch with Karr in the opening round of the playoffs is a possibility.
In District 9-5A, Holy Cross squares off with Gentilly neighbor St. Augustine at Tad Gormley Stadium.
The Purple Knights (3-4) are eighth while the Tigers (3-4) are ninth in the Division I power ratings with a rematch in the opening round of the playoffs not out of the question.
In District 11-4A, McMain (0-7) squares off with Livingston Collegiate (1-6) at 3:30 p.m. at Pan American Stadium. Livingston had to forfeit its first five games of the season, three of which were victories, based on an LHSAA sanction.
